A spiral coil sleeve is the simplest kind of screw sleeve product. It is made of high-quality stainless steel wire rolled into a spring thread shape. Usually, the diameter of the screw sleeve is designed to be larger than the threaded hole, so there is a process of compression during installation. The purpose of doing so is first to let the screw sleeve itself obtain the maximum contact area with the threaded hole; Second, after being compressed, the outer tension of the screw sleeve is the friction force that provides the locking function for the screw sleeve, and the screw sleeve is permanently fixed in the threaded hole.

Its thread-guiding function is realized by grooving the spiral coil. Compared with the traditional screw sleeve which needs to break the tail, the screw sleeve with no guide tail has the following advantages. (1) Eliminate the process of tail breaking, which is suitable for automatic installation in large quantities; (2) Two-way notch design, avoid checking the direction of the inserted screw sleeve before installation; (3) No tail breaking treatment to avoid impurities in the installation process; (4) There is no need to buy tail-breaking tools.
In many blind hole applications, the use of traditional tail-breaking sleeves may require additional mounting space under the sleeves to complete the final tail-breaking operation, and ensure that no harm is done to the parent material during the process. This extra space is greatly reduced when the tail-less screw sleeve is used.
