A rivet is a part that uses its own deformation or interference to join the riveted part in riveting. There are many kinds of rivets and they come in many forms. Commonly used rivets are the half-round head, flat head, countersunk head, core rivet, and hollow rivets, they usually use their own deformation to connect the riveted part. (Generally, rivets smaller than 8 mm are cold riveted, and rivets larger than 8 mm are hot riveted.) Core-pulling rivet is a single riveting rivet, but it must use special tools – a rivet gun (manual or electric) for riveting. These kinds of rivets are especially suitable for riveting occasions which are inconvenient to use ordinary rivets (riveted from both sides), so they are widely used in buildings, automobiles, ships, aircraft, machines, electrical appliances, furniture and other products. Among them, the open-mouth flat head core-pulling rivet is the most widely used, the countersunk head core-pulling rivet is suitable for the performance of the need for smooth riveting occasions, closed type core-pulling rivet is suitable for riveting occasions with higher load and certain sealing performance.

Core rivet is another type of single riveted rivet. When riveting, the head of the core rivet is hit with the hand hammer to reveal the core and make it flush with the end face of the head, that is, the riveting operation is completed. It is very convenient, especially suitable for riveting occasions when it is inconvenient to use an ordinary rivet (riveted from both sides) or pull the core rivet (lack of a rivet gun). Usually, an oblate head core rivet should be used for riveting, while a countersunk head core rivet is suitable for occasions where the surface needs to be smooth.
