A thread is a track of points moving along the surface of a cylinder or cone. The axial displacement of the point is proportional to the corresponding angular displacement.

Thread refers to a continuous projection with a specified tooth shape formed along the thread line on a cylindrical or conical surface. Note: The projection refers to the solid part between the two sides of the thread, also known as the tooth.

Cylindrical threads refer to threads formed on the surface of a cylinder.

Taper thread refers to the thread formed on a conical surface.

An external thread refers to the thread formed on the outer surface of a cylinder or cone.

An internal thread refers to the thread formed on the inner surface of a cylinder or cone.

Thread pair refers to the connection formed by the mutual rotation of internal and external threads.

A single thread refers to the thread formed along a single helix.

Multi-thread thread refers to the thread formed along two or more thread lines. And the helix is evenly spaced in the axial direction.

The right-hand thread refers to the thread that is turned in during clockwise rotation.

A left-hand thread refers to the thread that is turned in during counterclockwise rotation.

A complete thread refers to the thread with a complete shape at the top and bottom of the tooth.

An incomplete thread refers to the thread with the tooth base intact and the tooth apex incomplete.

The washout thread is an incomplete thread at the base of a tooth that transitions to a smooth surface.

Effective thread means a thread consisting of complete and incomplete threads, excluding the washout thread.
