Types And Causes Of Nut Surface Defects-Burst

In previous articles, we described shear bursts in fastener surface defects, including their classification and the causes of their formation. In this article, as a professional fastener manufacturer, we will continue to introduce burst.

Burst is also the cracking of a metal surface.

Cause of bursting: Due to surface defects of raw materials, bursting may occur during forging. For example, there may be a burst on the outer surface of the nut or on the perimeter of the flange nut.

Note: If the crack caused by the raw material is connected to the burst, then the crack may extend to the top circumference (3 or 4 strips), but the burst must not extend. A burst on the diagonal shall not reduce the diagonal width below the specified minimum size.

The width of the burst at the junction between the top or bottom of the nut and the opposite side plane shall not be greater than (0.25+0.02s)mm.

The burst around the flange of the flange nut shall not extend to the minimum diameter of the supporting surface and shall not exceed 0.08dc in width.
