Cause of shear burst: Shear burst may occur during forging, such as on the outer surface of the nut or on the periphery of the flange nut. Usually, the shear burst and the nut axis line are about 45°.

Note: The shear burst on the opposite side of the nut shall not extend to the supporting surface of the hexagon nut or the top circumference of the flange nut. Shear bursts on the diagonal shall not reduce the diagonal width below the specified minimum size. The width of the shear burst at the junction between the top or bottom of the nut and the opposite side plane shall not be greater than (0.25+0.02 s)mm.

The shear burst at the flange circumference of the flange nut shall not extend to the minimum diameter of the supporting surface and its width shall not exceed 0.08dc.
